What changes for every Paladin in WoW Forever?

Blizzard first walked through the Paladin at its BlizzCon Deep Dive panel on September 13, 2026, then showed it in the October 3 Class Highlights video. The quality-of-life change you’ll notice first: Judgment no longer consumes your Seal, so you stop recasting Seals after every Judgment.

  • Holy Strike at level 6, an instant weapon strike that adds Holy damage.
  • Consecration is baseline at level 20 instead of a talent. It hits the first four enemies hard, with lower damage and threat beyond that.
  • Blessings, Greater Blessings included, last an hour instead of 5 minutes.
  • Lay on Hands is on a 20-minute cooldown instead of an hour. On the WoW: Forever Podcast a developer put it simply: an hour was "just excessive."
  • Blessing of Kings is baseline, no talent needed.

Paladin abilities in the video: mana and cooldown

These are the tooltips from the video. They’re beta values, so damage and healing numbers can still change before launch on November 4.

Can Paladins tank in WoW Forever?

Yes, and that’s the point of the Protection changes. Classic Paladins had no taunt and ran low on mana in long fights. Now, with Seal of Fury up, Judgment taunts, and every hit with a shield equipped gives you a small absorb. Blizzard says it favors fast weapons.

  • Improved Seal of Fury gives you mana when the Seal absorbs damage, and Shield Specialization gives mana on blocks.
  • Swift Judgment resets Judgment once per minute, so one missed taunt isn’t the end of the pull.
  • Templar's Bulwark is the big emergency button, tied to Forbearance like your other bubbles.
  • Reckoning also triggers from blocks, so it works for tanks who are already crit-immune.
  • Iron Creed: well-timed Holy Strikes cut incoming damage for a short window.
  • Since October 1, Holy Shield’s block chance is 30% (was 20%) and Redoubt gives 4/8/12/16/20% (was 6/12/18/24/30%).

Holy Paladin: Light’s Vigil and Infusion of Light

Holy gets reasons to mix spells instead of spamming Holy Light. Infusion of Light makes crit heals from Holy Shock and Flash of Light shorten your next Holy Light cast, and Light’s Vigil turns Holy Shock into a party-wide heal when you put it on an ally.

Voice of Truth gives temporary immunity to Silence and interrupts, Reverence lets you regenerate mana from Spirit while casting, and Consecrated Ground makes enemies standing in Consecration take more Holy damage.

Retribution: Twist of Light and Seal twisting

Twist of Light builds Seal twisting into the spec, no swing-timer addon needed. Swap Seal of Command, Righteousness, Fury or Justice for another Seal and your next melee swing still gets an echo of the one you replaced. It also makes your Seals 20% cheaper.

Vindication now lowers the enemy’s Attack Power while raising yours, Sacred Arbiter empowers Holy Strike and refreshes your Judgments on the target, and Instrument of the Law lowers your threat and makes Holy Wrath instant. Champion of the Light turns Intellect into spell damage at 20/40/60% since October 1 (was 33/66/100%).

What Paladins still can’t do

Blizzard kept the class’s gaps on purpose. Paladins still have no interrupt, can’t slow targets the way other classes can, and still reach their taunt through Seal and Judgment instead of a single button. In return they stay strong against Undead and Demons with Exorcism, Holy Wrath and Turn Undead.

FAQ

Can Horde play Paladin in WoW Forever?
Yes, through the Undead. Undead Paladin is one of six new race and class combinations, with its own class story around Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades.
Which classes are in the other Class Highlights videos?
Part 1 covered Warrior, Shaman and Rogue. Blizzard said Part 3 will cover Priest, Warlock and Druid.

How does the October 8 build affect Paladin tanks?

Reckoning can trigger no more often than every 1.5 seconds. Improved Seal of Fury and Shield Specialization no longer generate threat while restoring mana. Blizzard says that sustaining the tank’s mana had been producing additional unintended threat. Seal of Fury also no longer returns mana without its required talent.

Retribution Aura now uses the Paladin’s spell power, rather than that of the target being struck. Its base damage returns to Vanilla values and the spell-power ratio falls from 13.3% to 6%. This changes aura damage; it does not remove Judgment’s taunt function.
