Is WoW Forever EU or US?
Both, but separately. Forever swaps realms for rulesets (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, and Hardcore after launch), yet the devs described it in the Q&A as 'realmless, not regionless'. EU and the other regions carry on as before.
Battle.net has three game regions. Americas covers North, Latin and South America plus Australia and New Zealand. Europe covers the EU, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East. Asia covers South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. A player in Turkey, for example, isn't named in Blizzard's article but falls under Europe through the Eastern Europe and Middle East part of that definition.
To see where you are, check the Region / Account picker above the Play button in the Battle.net app. On the Shop, Forever is listed for Americas & Oceania, Europe, Korea and Taiwan.
Can you play on another region?
Not with the same account. Blizzard's Global Play, which lets you connect to another region, works in every Blizzard game except World of Warcraft. The globe icon above the Play button doesn't apply to WoW.
One Battle.net account can hold WoW accounts in several regions, but progress isn't shared between them. Characters, game time and items can't be moved across regions, and you need a separate WoW license in each one. Blizzard also warns that playing outside your home region can hurt your connection.
Oceania gets a special setup: those players will mostly be on Australian data centers, can group with US friends and share the ruleset-wide auction house with the US. Names in Forever are unique per region across all rulesets, so your friends need to be in the same region, ruleset and faction to group up with you.
Bought from the wrong region?
WoW products are locked to one region. Check the Region/Language selector at the bottom of the Shop page before paying. If you already bought from the wrong one, look at the Refunds section of the Shop. Shop currency follows the country on your Battle.net account, and you can't pick a different one.

How to lower latency in WoW Forever
- Fix weak Wi-Fi or a slow connection, and restart your modem and router.
- Reset your UI and close other apps running in the background.
- Under Esc > System > Network, keep 'Optimize Network for Speed' on for a fast connection and off for a slow one.
- Lag spikes in raids and battlegrounds? Untick 'Optimize for Speed' to shrink packet size.
Those come from Blizzard's WoW support articles. The raid and battleground one blames the extra data inside instances outrunning your bandwidth. ISP problems are out of Blizzard's hands, so those go to your provider.
On the beta, Blizzard shipped an EU routing fix on September 21 after testers had trouble moving and staying connected; ISP and firewall lag can still show up. The devs also mentioned that grouping with players from a distant region can put you on their data center, so your ping may change.
Preferred Online Language
Forever matches you with players who share your language preference. Set it in Esc > Game Menu > Options, under System > Languages and Social > Preferred Online Language. It's account-wide, applies to every character, and has a 24-hour cooldown after each change.
