How much is WoW Forever per month?

Exactly what your WoW sub costs, because that's all you need. Blizzard's pre-purchase announcement and the Battle.net Shop both say Forever access is included with an active WoW subscription or Game Time. If your sub is running on November 4, you're in.

Short answer

WoW Forever isn't free to play, but there's no box price either: it's included with a WoW subscription or Game Time, from $14.99 / €12.99 a month. Skyborne upgrades are optional and start at $29.99 / €29.99.

Can you play WoW Forever for free?

Not for good, but there are ways in without paying for a sub:

  • The beta (it closed October 23, 2026). Epic and Collection owners get in automatically, and anyone can opt in on the official WoW site for a chance at an invite. No Game Time needed.
  • Server Slam. Blizzard says it'll open the beta servers to everyone for a few hours at some point during testing. No date yet.
  • An Invite-A-Friend launch code. If a friend who bought an upgrade sends you one, you can play from November 4 to 11, 2026 without a sub.

Blizzard hasn't said whether Forever will have a WoW Token.

Launch codes arrive by email from October 20. They don't unlock Skyborne, don't count as Game Time and can't be used on an account that bought an upgrade. Upgrades bought as gifts don't come with codes.

Epic costs $30 / €30 more than Heroic, but its 30 days of Game Time stand in for a month of sub. Roughly half of that gap is money you'd have spent on your first month anyway.

Free access timeline

  1. September 17: beta opens with a level 20 cap, raised to 30 on October 1.
  2. September 21: Blizzard Support updates its beta article; no Game Time needed, and launch codes don't grant beta access.
  3. During the beta, date TBA: Server Slam.
  4. October 20: launch codes started going out by email.
  5. October 23: the beta closed (extended from October 21).
  6. November 4, 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC): launch. Epic and Collection Game Time is added from this date.
  7. November 11: last day of launch-code access.
  8. January 11, 2027: the Warcraft Forever Collection leaves the shop.

What do you miss if you skip the upgrades?

Not the game itself. A subscription gets you into Forever and lets you level like anyone else. Here's what's tied to an upgrade:

  • The Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting zone (Heroic and up)
  • Early Name Reservation from October 27 to November 3, 2026, for up to three characters (any upgrade)
  • Guaranteed beta access, which ended October 23 (Epic and Collection)
  • 30 days of Game Time, added from November 4 (Epic and Collection)
  • Cosmetics like mounts, transmog, tabards, pets and a toy
  • Invite-A-Friend launch codes
Can I upgrade from Heroic to Epic later?
Yes. Moving from Heroic to Epic or the Collection also adds two more Invite-A-Friend codes. Going from Epic to the Collection doesn't add any.
