How big is WoW Forever?

The Battle.net Shop lists 128 GB of free space on an SSD for both minimum and recommended specs. There's no HDD option in the table; every column says SSD. Clear the space before launch week.

Can my PC run WoW Forever?

On Windows, press Win + R and run dxdiag to see your CPU, RAM, GPU and DirectX version. On a Mac, check About This Mac in the Apple menu. Then compare against the tables. The recommended tier is pretty modern (RTX 40 series, Core Ultra Series 2, Apple M4), but minimum is a lot more forgiving.

Is WoW Forever coming to console?

Right now it's announced for Windows and Mac only, and Blizzard hasn't said anything official about consoles. What it has confirmed is official controller support, so you'll be able to play on PC or Mac with a gamepad.

How to install WoW Forever

  1. Log in to your Battle.net account, or create one if you don't have it yet.
  2. Install the Battle.net desktop app. It's required, along with an internet connection.
  3. Make sure your account has an active WoW subscription or Game Time.
  4. Download World of Warcraft: Forever from the Battle.net app once the client is available. Blizzard hasn't announced a pre-download date yet.

HD vs SD models and visual presets

Forever lets you pick between modern and Classic visual presets, and between HD and SD character models. HD models get restored Classic animations. Blizzard has also shown rendering updates like flowing rivers in Elwynn, mist over Darkshore's waters and moonlight in Ashenvale.

Can I install WoW Forever on an HDD?
Every spec in the shop lists an SSD, and there's no HDD figure. If you install on a hard drive, you're outside the official requirements.
Will WoW Forever run on a laptop?
The minimum list includes Intel Iris Xe2-LPG (Lunar Lake) integrated graphics, so a recent thin-and-light laptop with that chip meets minimum on paper. Older integrated graphics aren't on the list.
Does WoW Forever run on Intel Macs?
The Mac minimum lists 9th-gen Intel Core (Coffee Lake) alongside Apple M2. You'll also need macOS 12 and Metal support; Apple M4 on macOS 15 is recommended.
