There's no standalone beta key; the only code you can buy comes with the physical Collector's Edition. On September 25 the official WoW Discord, WoW Portal Room, kicked off a Forever Collection code giveaway, and since the Collection includes guaranteed beta access it's one more shot; Blizzard's news post doesn't list the entry rules. Invites go out during the test to opt-in players, community veterans, press and fan sites, and the opt-in page only opens while a test runs. No Game Time needed, just beta access.

Short answer

The Epic Pack, Collection and Collector’s Edition guaranteed WoW Forever beta access; opt-in did not. The test cap was 30 and the last build came October 8. The beta closed October 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT; launch is November 4.

Which test tools are available when you join?

All testers received 16 Legacy Points with the October 8 build. That beta grant lets you try perks without finishing the normal challenge paths; it should not be treated as points awarded to a launch account.

Cooldown Manager now covers all classes, racials and trinkets. Gamepad Action Bar options moved to Edit Mode and must be set again because the older options do not migrate automatically. City of Dalaran also joined the dungeon test list.

How to install the WoW Forever beta (and what to do if it won’t show up)

  1. Check “Your Game Accounts” on your Battle.net account. No Forever beta license there means the invite may be fake.
  2. Just bought a pack? Give it up to 30 minutes, then restart the Battle.net app.
  3. Open the Game Version drop-down above Play, pick World of Warcraft: Forever Beta under In Development and install or update it.
  4. Collector's Edition owners: make sure the code went on the right WoW account. One code per account.
  5. Several WoW licenses on one Battle.net account? The account picker may not show. Kaivax suggested “Create PTR Account” under Games & Subscriptions, though he wasn't sure it helps.
  6. Lost access out of nowhere? Check your beta character names; some access was pulled over names on September 24, with no appeals.

Playing from Europe? EU testers had movement and disconnect problems early on; Kaivax said on September 21 that routing fixes helped. The devs on the podcast tied that to everyone worldwide sharing one beta server, which isn't how live servers will be set up. The character friends list is still off in beta.

What can you play in the beta right now?

  • The Skyborne race and the Zephras Isle starting zone
  • Zone content up to level 30
  • New dungeons: The Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20) and Excavation Site: Wetlands (26–31), City of Dalaran (28–33)
  • Classic dungeons from Ragefire Chasm to Scarlet Monastery, plus Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+)
  • The 15v15 battleground and Camping, per Warcraft’s week 3 post

That's the list as of the October 8 build. The roadmap caps the beta at level 30 and it closed on October 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. On October 21 an open stress test let every Battle.net account in for a few hours. Code of Conduct breaks can cost you access, as September 24 showed. No official source mentions an NDA.

Will my beta characters carry over to launch?
Blizzard hasn't said yet. You start on a fresh test character, so lock in your live name during Early Name Reservation from October 27.
I bought Heroic. Can I still get into beta?
Heroic on its own doesn't include beta. Upgrade to Epic or the Collection and you get guaranteed access, plus two extra Invite-A-Friend codes.
Can you get banned for buying gold in the beta?
Yes. On September 28 Blizzard said RMT action has already started in the beta and that gold buyers' accounts will be actioned too: the gold can be removed and accounts can be closed.
