How riding training works

In original Classic you paid twice: once for the riding skill and again for the mount. Forever puts the cost on riding training, the way The Burning Crusade did, and hands you a mount when you learn to ride. No hunting down a mount vendor for your first one.

Blizzard hasn't said yet what level riding unlocks at or how much gold it costs.

Is there flying in WoW Forever?

No. When Blizzard laid out Forever's four design pillars, it spelled out no flying mounts and no level scaling. One of those pillars is the world as the main character. No level scaling also means mobs in a higher-level zone stay at their level while you ride through, so plan your routes.

What you do get is new boat routes: Stormwind Harbor to Auberdine, a Menethil–Southshore–Auberdine line, and a Steamwheedle Cartel route from Tanaris to Riverglades.

Mounts in the Skyborne upgrades

The digital upgrades come with two ground mounts. The Heroic Pack's Cerulean Prideclaw doesn't skip training, so you still buy riding skill in-game. The Epic Pack adds a bear, the Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion.

Mounts by upgrade
UpgradeMountsPrice (US / EU)
Skyborne Heroic Pack Cerulean Prideclaw $29.99 / €29.99
Skyborne Epic Pack Cerulean Prideclaw + Veteran Adventurer's Loyal Companion (bear) $59.99 / €59.99
Warcraft Forever Collection Both Epic Pack mounts $79.99 / €79.99

Forever itself comes with an active WoW subscription or Game Time, so there's no base game to buy; the Epic Pack does add 30 days of Game Time from November 4. Pack items don't work in WoW Classic, and the Warcraft Forever Collection is on sale through January 11, 2027.

The Forsaken Paladin epic mount quest

Forsaken Paladins get a level-60 epic mount quest with a Retribution theme. Blizzard's Found Photos recap shows an armored charger in its Forsaken Paladin section.

Their class storyline is built around Bandarion Keep in Whispering Wood, Tirisfal Glades. The quest steps haven't been shared.

FAQ

Do I need a pack to get a mount?
No. Learning riding already grants you a mount. The Cerulean Prideclaw and the bear are extras on top of that.
Will flying come to WoW Forever later?
Nothing on the 2026–2027 roadmap mentions flying, and Blizzard lists no flying mounts as one of Forever's core design rules.
Does the Collector's Edition include a mount?
The physical Collector's Edition includes a Warcraft Forever Collection code, so you get both pack mounts that way. No separate CE-only mount is listed.
Are there epic mounts for every class?
The epic mount news so far is the level-60 Forsaken Paladin quest. Epic riding for everyone else hasn't been covered.
