Can you bring a Classic or retail character into Forever?

There's no official answer. Blizzard's BlizzCon announcements, the Forever game page and Blizzard Support articles don't mention transfers or character copies from any other version of WoW.

Here's what is confirmed. Forever is realmless: you pick a ruleset instead of a realm. Early name reservation and character creation open October 27, 2026, and names are two-part (first and last) and unique per region.

Is there LFG or dual spec?

Neither has been announced. Blizzard detailed nine new dungeons with their own quests and rewards, but said nothing about a group finder.

The talent news so far, like the new 16-point tier and buff talents becoming baseline, doesn't touch spec swapping either.

Arenas and consoles

Forever's PvP news covers the Darkspear Islands 15v15 battleground, the PvP ruleset and PvP season refreshes on the roadmap. No arenas in that list. Windows and Mac are the only platforms named.

What's confirmed about characters

  • The level cap is 60.
  • A Hardcore character that dies can move to another ruleset, PvP included.
  • Collections and Legacy Points are account-wide on every ruleset except Hardcore.
  • Hardcore progress can flow out, but nothing flows in.
  • Appearances still get collected even with transmog turned off.

FAQ

Will beta characters carry over to launch?
Blizzard hasn't said. The beta runs September 17 to October 21, 2026 PST (the roadmap image says October 22) with a level 30 cap.
Can I group with a friend on a different ruleset?
No. Each ruleset is its own ecosystem with no cross-ruleset grouping, and Horde and Alliance still can't group together.
Is a dungeon finder on the roadmap?
No. The 2026–2027 roadmap covers raids, dungeons, Hardcore, world content and PvP season refreshes, with no mention of LFG or a dungeon finder.
