What is Darkspear Islands?

Darkspear Islands is a new 15v15 battleground set on islands off Kalimdor's coast. Blizzard describes it as a blend of control points and Arathi Basin-style flag capture and defense. Team size matches Classic Arathi Basin.

The map layout, scoring and rewards haven't been shown. Blizzard's screenshots show a palm-lined coast with a pier and a goblin zeppelin, plus a ship in a harbor.

PvP ruleset or Normal?

Forever has no realm list. You pick a ruleset when you make a character, and that choice decides how world PvP works for you.

Each ruleset is its own large ecosystem. You can't group across rulesets, and Horde and Alliance still can't group together. Whether battleground queues are shared between rulesets hasn't been covered.

How will faction balance work?

Blizzard says the PvP ruleset gets faction-balance systems similar to the ones in Season of Discovery. Exactly how they'll work in Forever hasn't been explained.

Honor and PvP seasons

The game page and Battle.net Shop both mention honor changes without giving any details. There's nothing official yet on ranks, PvP gear or season rewards.

The roadmap lists a “PvP season refresh” in both the spring and summer 2027 major updates.

Are there arenas in WoW Forever?

Arenas don't appear in any official Forever post, and Blizzard hasn't said yet whether they're planned. Darkspear Islands is the only new PvP map announced so far.

FAQ

Can other players attack me on the Normal ruleset?
No. On Normal, PvP only happens when both sides agree to it. If you want to quest without getting ganked, that's the ruleset to pick.
Can I move my character to another ruleset later?
The only confirmed case is Hardcore: a dead Hardcore character can move to another ruleset, PvP included. Transfers between Normal, PvP and RP haven't been mentioned.
Will Darkspear Islands be available at launch?
No date has been given. What's Next lists it among Forever's new content but doesn't say whether it's live on November 4 or later.
Are Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley in Forever?
Official Forever posts don't address them. Darkspear Islands being compared to Arathi Basin doesn't by itself confirm that Arathi Basin is in the game.
