Does WoW Forever have an auction house?
Yes. The devs talked about selling items on the auction house in the Deep Dive panel. Since Forever has no realms, the AH isn't tied to one server; it's shared across the whole ruleset.
Oceania players will mostly play on Australian data centers but share their auction house with the US.
Can you get banned for buying gold in WoW Forever?
Yes. In the September 17 developer Q&A, Blizzard said gold buyers will be punished far more harshly in Forever, including permanent account loss, and that the economy will be watched closely.
On September 28 Blizzard spelled it out on the official forums: action against real-money trading (RMT) has already started in the beta and carries on through launch and beyond. Seller accounts have always been shut down fast; now Blizzard will increasingly go after the accounts that buy the gold as well. The illicit gold gets pulled from the recipient, and further action can go as far as closing the account.
Blizzard's general WoW support article on gold buying fills in the rest: gold sellers steal accounts and run bots, bought gold gets removed, and the account can be actioned up to a permanent ban. Selling items, gold or services for real money breaks the EULA too.
What is a Temporary Economy Hold in WoW Forever?
It's the newest anti-RMT tool, announced by Blizzard on the official forums on October 13. If your account is suspected of selling gold or receiving bought gold, you lose the use of trade, mail, guild banks and the auction house while the hold is on.
Blizzard's goal is to freeze suspicious gold before it gets passed on or spent, which gives them time to investigate properly. A hold ends in one of two ways: it's removed automatically if the investigation finds nothing, or the account gets actioned if RMT is confirmed.
Normal players are unlikely to ever see one. Blizzard admits the system is new and false positives can happen while it's tuned, but a hold alone leaves no permanent strike on your account. If it works, it's coming to every version of WoW.
Why is GDKP banned in WoW Forever?
GDKP runs auction off raid loot for gold and split the pot between the raiders at the end. Those runs aren't allowed in Forever.
Blizzard gave two reasons: protecting guild structure, and making real-money trading and gold laundering harder.
What is the Tarnished Undermine Real?
It's an emblem-style system that's coming to Forever as well. Blizzard can tune the economy by changing what's inside the boxes tied to it. Earn rates and exact box contents haven't been shared.
Is the WoW Token in WoW Forever?
Blizzard hasn't said yet. For context, the Token support article lists it for modern WoW and Classic Progression, but not for Classic Era, Hardcore or Season of Discovery.
| Topic | Status |
|---|---|
| Auction house | Yes, shared across the ruleset |
| Buying gold | Banned; gold removed, account can be closed |
| Temporary Economy Hold | Trade, mail, guild bank and AH locked while a suspected RMT case is checked |

How do you make gold in WoW Forever?
The game isn't out until November 4, so nobody has real farm spots yet. What Blizzard has shown points to where the money will come from:
- Professions: 600+ new recipes, and crafted food gives stats plus a small XP buff.
- Camping: campsites hold profession objects. The first ones unlock at skill 20, and advanced ones come from Blueprint recipes that drop in dungeons.
- Rares: hundreds of new rare-mob drops.
- Quests: expanded quest rewards.

Your spending changes a bit as well. Mounts work like The Burning Crusade: the cost sits in riding training and you get a mount when you learn it. The Reagent Economy perk in the Legacy Resourcefulness tree also removes reagent costs for class buffs.
How to keep your gold and account safe
- Trade through the trade window, the auction house or C.O.D. mail.
- Don't accept gold mailed or traded to you by someone you don't know.
- Keep deals in game and only take gold from the character you made the deal with.
- Turn on the Authenticator in the Battle.net Mobile App. If a login request shows up that you didn't start, hit Deny and change your password right away.
